David set up his mobile sawmilling service to process other people’s logs into valuable sawn timber. Jobs undertaken have covered milling one log right up to processing anything up to 50 tonnes of logs in the one place. Today he uses an Autotrek horizontal mobile band mill. This is a completely self contained unit powered by its own 60hp diesel engine. All of the log handling facilities on the mill are hydraulic – from loading the logs, turning and holding them in place whilst they are milled. The mill can accommodate logs up to 20 feet long and 42 inches in diameter. Using the latest stellite tipped blades it can produce accurately sawn high quality timber.
